Eli Lilly’s Weight-Loss Pipeline: Retatrutide Research Milestones
A development pipeline describes research milestones. It does not establish which drug an individual should use or when an investigational product will become available.

Where retatrutide fits
Retatrutide is Lilly’s investigational GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptor agonist. The phase 2 obesity study tested defined groups against placebo; the highest target-dose group had a mean 24.2% weight reduction at 48 weeks. This average is not a forecast for a patient and does not establish superiority to another drug tested in a different study.
Submission is different from approval
Lilly stated on July 23, 2026 that it planned a BLA submission in the first quarter of 2027. That is a dated sponsor plan. Trial completion, submission, regulatory review, approval and commercial launch are different events. No FDA approval date has been established for retatrutide.
Regulatory status
Retatrutide is not FDA-approved and cannot be used in compounding under federal law. FormBlends does not prescribe, compound or sell it.
