Methylene Blue

Methylene blue is a well-characterized compound with a long medical history, now studied at low doses for mitochondrial support. Its proposed mechanism is unusual: at low concentrations it can act as an alternative electron carrier in the mitochondrial electron transport chain, potentially easing electron flow when normal carriers are stressed, which is the basis of interest in cellular energy and cognitive focus. Two points define responsible use. First, grade: much of what is sold online is aquarium or industrial grade with uncertain purity, whereas this is pharmaceutical grade at defined purity. Second, interactions: methylene blue is a monoamine oxidase inhibitor and must not be combined with SSRIs, SNRIs or other serotonergic medications because of serotonin syndrome risk, and it is used cautiously in G6PD deficiency. A licensed provider screens medications and history; dispensed by a US-licensed pharmacy. It harmlessly tints urine blue-green.
