Compounded Vial Checklist

Compounded semaglutide comes in a multi-dose vial. You draw each dose manually using a syringe. This requires a few more supplies than a brand pen, but the process is straightforward once you have done it a few times.

Essential supplies:

• Insulin syringes. 1mL (100-unit) insulin syringes with attached 29-gauge or 30-gauge, half-inch needle. These are the standard syringes used for all subcutaneous injections. One per injection, once per week.
• Alcohol swabs. Same as brand: standard 70% isopropyl prep pads. Two per injection (one for the vial top, one for the injection site).
• Sharps container. For syringes and needles. Same as brand.

• Never recap a needle after use (recapping is the most common cause of accidental needlestick injuries).
• When the sharps container is three-quarters full, seal it permanently.

• Never place loose needles in household trash, recycling, or flush them down the toilet.
