Direct answer: There is no manufacturer-provided Ozempic dose-by-click chart. The number printed on the pen can describe total contents or the dose per injection. Read the dose counter and match the pen presentation to its Instructions for Use.
U.S. Ozempic pen presentations
| Label and total contents | Labeled dose per injection | What the counter selects |
|---|---|---|
| 2 mg/3 mL total | 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg | 0.25 or 0.5 |
| 4 mg/3 mL total | 1 mg | 1 mg |
| 8 mg/3 mL total | 2 mg | 2 mg |
The first number in each row is the amount in the whole pen. The labeled dose is the amount selected for one injection. For example, the 2 mg/3 mL presentation is the pen with 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg settings; the separate 8 mg/3 mL presentation is labeled for 2 mg doses.
Why click totals are not a dose conversion
The selector makes an audible click as it turns, but the current U.S. Instructions for Use say to read the dose counter and pointer and not to set a dose by counting clicks. The selector also behaves differently when turned forward and backward. A count from one pen presentation cannot be treated as a universal milligram conversion.
Choose the guide for the label on your pen
- 2 mg/3 mL pen: total contents and 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg settings
- 4 mg/3 mL pen: four labeled 1 mg doses
- 8 mg/3 mL pen: four labeled 2 mg doses
