Injection Site Rotation Map
Rotating injection sites prevents lipodystrophy, reduces pain, and improves medication absorption. Use the 6-zone rotation system below and track each injection to avoid repeating the same spot.
Six Injection Zones

2+ inches from navel, below ribs

Middle third, front of thigh

Left Upper Arm
Back of upper arm (may need help)

Rotation Rule
Follow the numbered sequence: 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → back to 1. Within each zone, inject at least 1 inch away from the previous spot. Never inject into the same exact location twice in a row.

Areas to Avoid
- ✕ Within 2 inches of the belly button
- ✕ Along the waistband/belt line
- ✕ Bruised or scarred skin
- ✕ Areas with stretch marks
- ✕ Near moles or skin lesions
- ✕ Same exact spot as last injection
Pain Reduction Tips by Site:
Abdomen -- most popular, least painful for most people. Thigh -- good alternative, may sting slightly more. Upper arm -- may need assistance, good absorption. Let alcohol swab dry completely. Inject at room temperature.
